It seems like only last week that there was snow on the ground and we were contemplating the 2-year old sales season. Well, all that has flown by and now we’re awaiting the imminent beginning of the extended, 5-day a week racing at Saratoga, or as locals call it, the Spaaaaaaa.

I’ve been remiss in updating the site, so a quick recap is in order. Needless to say, there’s been a lot going on in general with racing. Horse fatalities at Santa Anita, the Kentucky Derby fiasco, the 3-year old division up in the air. There has been a lot to contemplate. All this going into one of the sport’s marquis meets. There’s a lot riding on these 40 days.

Aside for the macro of the sport, the micro of this little outfit Blue Streak Racing, has been eventful as well. Viserion was required by us after she was purchased at the Keeneland January Sale and put back in training (which she was not happy with, and we concurred). Happily, she has now started her second career as a broodmare and is in-foal to first-year NY stallion Weekend Hideaway. We couldn’t be happier!

Also, we took a chance with a claim in February, teaming up with our good friends at Vin-Laur Racing on Proximate to Power. He finished 3rd in one start with us and was quickly lost to the claim.

We’ve since been banging it out at the claiming box in an attempt to get back in the game, but we’re getting out shaken so far. We’ll continue to look for a claimer to run at Saratoga.

There is good news on the Saratoga front as Prairie Fire has been back in training for Danny Gargan and just completed her first half-mile work, which went well. If all goes right, she’ll be starting sometime around mid-meet at Saratoga. Very exciting! Stay tuned for more on that.

Well, for now, good luck at The Spa, and keep an eye on the entries for Blue Streak Racing!
