Blue Streak Racing’s newly turned 4-year-old filly Rossa Veloce made her first start of the new year, and showed a new, closing style in finishing 3rd at Aqueduct Park on January 8th.
Sent off at odds of 23-1(?!), Rossa Veloce broke well, established favorable position on the rail and saved all the ground. Entering mid-stretch stretch, angled out by 10-pound apprentice jockey Alisa Morrison, Rossa Veloce showed a nice closing kick to pick off horses and pick up the show check.
Rossa Veloce, who won first out at Saratoga in 2020, was our first yearling purchase selected by trainer Ray Handal and Oracle Bloodstock.
The Beyer Speed Figure for this race was a career-high 76. Congrats! This new versatility in her running style should come in useful in upcoming starts. Stay tuned for more on Rossa Veloce.
