Rossa Veloce begins to widen her lead in mid-stretch of the Key Cents Stakes Sunday at Aqueduct.

Blue Streak Racing’s 2-year old filly Rossa Veloce became stakes-placed over the weekend as she she took 2nd in the Key Cents Stakes at Aqueduct.

The NY-bred daughter of Girolamo set a solid early pace and kept on going to best the field, save the Todd Pletcher trained victor, Vacay, who clearly has a bright future in front of her.

Trained by Ray Handal and piloted by Joel Rosario, Rossa Veloce gets black-type on her resume in just her 4th career start. The term black-type refers to a placing (2nd or 3rd) in a listed or graded stakes race, which for a filly, is valuable when it comes to breeding, after her racing career is finished. Hopefully that stage of her career is far in the future, as the connections eagerly await her next start.
