The Blue Streak Racing team was active at the just concluded Fasig-Tipton NY-Bred Yearling Sale in Saratoga Springs, NY. Trainer Ray Handal and Oracle Bloodstock went to $30,000 to acquire a strapping filly (hip #393) from the first crop of sire Good Samaritan (pedigree page below).

The team was impressed with her size and balance, as well as her keen eye and overall appearance. The consensus was that she’d grow into her frame and be quite the specimen by her 2-year old year. She’s already on her way to Ocala, FL where she’ll be broken and trained at King’s Equine, the trainer of our previous three yearling purchases (Prairie Fire, Rossa Veloce, and Ribot’s Valentine), two of which have won at Saratoga.

This is a great opportunity for new partners to get in on the ground floor with Blue Streak Racing and follow along as our horse develops. As with most of our partnerships, we have no mark-up on the purchase price, and aside from some sale related incidental expenses (van to FL, vet work, bloodstock agent fee, 1-year mortality insurance), that is your buy-in. We offer 5% shares ($1,500 per 5% share), with your share of expenses being billed monthly through HorseBills.com, our accounting provider. We estimate monthly expenses to be right around $125/mo. Those would increase when the filly (hopefully) gets to the Ray Handal barn at Belmont in the Spring, to approximately $175/mo.

As we’re a Saratoga-based partnership, we look to run at Saratoga, and our purchases reflect that: we look for precocious families (this filly’s brother has run twice at 2) and physicals that’ll develop early. Bottom line, we want to run (and win) with 2-year olds at Saratoga!
